In today's guide, we'll show you how to play Kael'thas after the Ignite nerf in the Kharazim patch. Ignite was too strong on its tier and was chosen 97% overall and more than 99% of the time in platinum and above leagues. Ignite was replaced with Fury of the Sunwell which makes it so that your Flamestrikes strike twice. There's been a lot of discussion about this and essentially, removing ignite has finally allowed the next most valuable build, a chain bomb build, to finally emerge. I ran a match with Kaeyoh from Tempo Storm while I was on the PTR and he confirmed how Kael feels now. "Talent straight into bombs." This means not taking Fury of the Sunwell, but Backdraft is very effective if the entire team has living bombs on them. Alternatively, the double strike of flamestrike allows you to control the enemy team's placement and acts as a Force Wall or Precision Strike. I have a feeling that Fury will be much more useful in competitive environments where you have comms and excellent follow up on this positioning control. Long story short though, Kael'thas doesn't just wipe the enemy team endlessly with flamestrike and living bombs anymore. He's starting to fill more of that support role while still doing incredible damage.
